Actor Depardieu pees on plane, crew 'dumbfounded'

For the second time in a week, there are reports of an allegedly drunk airline passenger urinating in the aircraft cabin.

The latest comes from Europe, where well-known French actor Gerard Depardieu "chose not to bother going to the toilet before relieving himself" on a Tuesday flight from Paris to Dublin, AFP writes.

The Associated Press adds "France's Europe-1 radio aired an interview with (a) passenger, identified only by her first name Daniele, saying that Depardieu appeared inebriated and announced 'I need to piss, I need to piss.' "

The incident apparently came as the plane was preparing to takeoff. The actor got up -- presumably for the lavatory -- only to be told that the seat-belt sign was on and he'd have to wait about 15 minutes for the plane to depart and reach a safe altitude.

"And there and then he stood up and did it on the floor," Daniele is quoted by AFP as saying to Europe-1.

"We could see he had been drinking. The stewardess was dumbfounded," she's quoted as saying. "No-one said anything. It all happened with courtesy. Mr Depardieu sat back down and the plane returned to the parking area to be cleaned."

When contacted by AFP about the Europe-1 report, a spokeswoman for CityJet -- a subsidiary of Air France-KLM -- acknowledged there was an incident on Air France Flight 5010.

"I will only confirm that he, in effect, urinated in the plane," the spokeswoman tells AFP.

The incident delayed the flight about about two hours, according to Europe-1.

However, USA TODAY's Ann Oldenburg points to this People report that shows CityJet "had a sense of humor about the incident." The airline took to Twitter with the following Tweet:

As you may have seen on the news, we are busy mopping the floor of one of our planes this morning...

Another Tweet from the airline this morning reads:

We'd also like to remind all passengers that our planes are fully equipped with toilet facilities...

Of course, the French incident comes after an allegedly drunk 18-year-old made headlines after he was reported to have urinated on a sleeping 11-year-old girl after not quite making it the whole way to the lavatory. That girl's family later came forward with a clarification that the teen hadn't urinated on the girl, but rather only on the floor near her.

Either way, the incident resulted in the teen losing his spot on the U.S. ski team roster.
